Boston, Massachusetts - 1887
Eliza Reed and her three friends work as seamstresses at a textile mill and long for more excitement in their lives, so they decide to write to men out West who are looking for brides. Eliza discovers a promising advertisement placed by a widowed sheriff in Missoula Mills named Phillip Bradford. He and his young daughter Celeste seek a kind soul who will bring warmth and love back into their lives once again.
Eliza and Phillip’s correspondence through letters quickly escalates as they begin to feel their love grow stronger with each exchange. Before long, Eliza packs up her things and bravely boards a train bound for the Montana Territory. Upon arrival, it becomes clear that although Phillip is a wonder with words on paper, he seems to have trouble communicating in person. Outwardly, he is shy and almost cold towards her, and his young daughter Celeste seems to be no different.
Will Eliza be able to break through their frosty exteriors? Perhaps she might be able to do so with a little patience and guidance from the Lord.

A very good short story romance. But could have been much better if more had been written about Phillip and his thoughts, etc. There was also two things I found confusing in the writing: The girl is 7 yrs old yet the author wrote that she "toddled" over to a nearby table. Also at the end of the wedding, the pastor says ". . . man and wife" sounds like he is going to say man and woman. Should be Husband and Wife.
-- ---This book also has 26 Bonus short stories. I have read all but 3 of these - Because I have found at least 3 authors who gives a book a title for the 1st story then adds bonus stories, then creates another book with a usually, often from one of the 'bonus' stories, etc. etc. - that I began Listing the author's name & titles. I have also found out about 2 different authors, who have the same books using different author names - so I will continue listing some of the eBooks I read. {I have been a secretary and do love Excel software)
-----One think very helpful is the TOC that begins at location 42 so you can easily go from one story to a different story without having to click & click to get to one you have not already read. ----

Mail Order Bride Eliza Journey Montana Valley Brides Series Book 1 edition by Charity Phillips Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
A good story about Eliza, who deserves a second chance at life, and a tough lawman who thinks its all he and his son against the world. Yes, love can strike even after great loss!
This author should not write about children, no 7 year old "toddles" around for one thing. But if you can look past those types of errors, it was a good story.
This is a good book. It's a short story which is clean. There are other short stories in this book as well.
First book I've read by this author. I really enjoyed this book. Love that her friends are there with her and that they work in the school house. Really liked how she helped the little girl out.
The story was really good and I enjoyed it very much. Eliza was a mail order bride from Boston traveling to the west. She just wanted to be happy . I liked the book very much.
This is truly a sweet story! The grief that this family has had to endure that it took a lot of love and patience to pull anything out of them. Such warm and caring characters.
Personally, I love a simple story that doesn't have tons of angst or violence, so this one fit the bill for me.
I had a hard time with a few details, things like a seven-year-old 'toddling' or being held by her aunt. Who carries a seven year old? Not very realistic, frankly. Phillip may've been a man of few words, but this story took it to an extreme. More interaction was needed for their relationship to progress. I'm looking forward to reading the other stories in this series.
